Praxair starts up Peru gas plant to supply refinery
Praxair has started up a new air separation unit (ASU) in Lima, Peru, the company said on Thursday, seeking to expand its supply of industrial gases to a local zinc producer.
The ASU will supply additional capacity to meet demand of one of the fastest-growing economies in South America, according to the company.
The new plant utilizes the latest energy efficient technology and has a production capacity of approximately 300 tpd of oxygen, nitrogen and argon, Praxair officials said. The ASU will generate gaseous oxygen for the refinery and liquefied industrial gases to meet growing demand in the region.
The plant will serve the food and beverage, metal fabrication, healthcare, and chemical segments, increasing Praxair’s production and distribution capabilities in the region.
"Praxair is providing a cost and energy-efficient plant to support customer expectations. We have built a strong commercial relationship with the customer based on our innovative approach and the efficiency and reliability of our product supply capabilities,” said Domingos Bulus, president of Praxair White Martins.
“This plant further strengthens Praxair’s strong presence in the Peruvian Coast," he added.
