HollyFrontier assesses Tulsa refinery fire damage

HOUSTON -- HollyFrontier Corp. is still assessing the damage to one of its Tulsa refineries after an early morning fire in the east facility's diesel cleaning unit, a spokeswoman said late Thursday.
"We're in the process of assessing the damage and impact to refiner operations," said spokeswoman Julia Heidenreich.
She declined to say whether the refinery was operating Thursday morning.
HollyFrontier has two refineries in Tulsa. They are less than two miles apart and are operated as an integrated facility through interconnecting pipelines.
Ms. Heidenreich said the fire was in the Tulsa East facility's diesel hydrotreater, a unit that removes contaminants from the diesel stream. She said the fire was contained by the refinery's fire staff and is now out.
The Tulsa West facility was not affected by the fire, Ms. Heidenreich said.
She said the fire caused no injuries - all of HollyFrontier's employees are accounted for - and posed no danger to the community.
Together the company's Tulsa refineries have a crude oil capacity of 125,000 bpd and primarily process sweet crude oils, according to HollyFrontier's website.
Tulsa County Sheriff's Department spokesman Major Shannon Clark said the department was notified of the fire at 2:30 a.m.
Mr. Clark said the fire had been contained, but the department had not surveyed any damage.
