Cynar picks Rockwell Automation to design, build UK waste-to-fuel plant
UK-based waste-to-energy technology company Cynar has awarded an $11 million contract to Rockwell Automation to design and build a new end-of-life, plastic-to-fuel conversion plant in Bristol, UK.
The plant is for SITA UK Ltd., a Cynar customer and partner in the development, project officials said.
Cynar says it has developed a technology that converts end-of-life plastics into fuel.
Our technology represents a unique and profitable way to significantly decrease the amount of end-of-life plastics that are disposed of in landfills and incinerators, said Michael Murray, Cynar CEO and chairman.
Rockwell Automation strengthens our technology by providing complete design, engineering life-cycle maintenance, and local support. Well have a process technology solution that will enable us to rapidly deploy our technology globally.
This agreement with Cynar demonstrates Rockwell Automations ability to deliver scalable, complex solutions on a global level, said Hedwig Maes, president of Rockwell Automations Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Were pleased to work with Cynar in an industry thats making the world more sustainable.
This win is significant for us in the waste-to-energy market, said Terry Gebert, vice president and general manager of Rockwell Automation Global Solutions.
It includes the design and build of process skids, automation architecture, software, power control and engineering/startup services in one fully integrated solution, using the Rockwell Automation PlantPAx Process Automation System, Gebert continued.
Our process knowledge, project management, domain expertise and global resources will help Cynar implement and operate a profitable, sustainable facility.
The Rockwell Automation Global Solutions team has worked with Cynar over the past two years developing the engineering, modularization and process improvements of Cynars waste end-of-life, plastic-to-fuel conversion plant, project officials.
With this contract award, Rockwell Automation says it will enter the design and build phase of the project.
