Employees for engineering services firm MISTRAS set safety milestone at Shell US refinery
For the 14th consecutive year, employees with engineering services firm MISTRAS have gone without a recordable injury while working at the Shell Oil refinery in Martinez, Calif., officials said on Friday.
"This is an incredible safety accomplishment for the MISTRAS employees working at this facility, especially when you consider that these employees have worked over 4,500 days performing various duties in an environment that, at times, can be extremely unforgiving," said Mike Price, general manager for the MISTRAS San Francisco lab, which services the Shell Martinez location.
"This particular group of NDE and Inspection professionals continue to set the safety bar at a very high level, Price added. The slightest indiscretion gets our clients attention quickly, where safety is concerned, and I am proud of this group's continued focus on doing their respective jobs with safety always in the forefront of their actions."
MISTRAS has worked at this facility for 17 years and has been awarded the Shell "Eagle Award" for excellence in dafety three times.
"Often we focus on goals like a million man hours and this focus can allow us to sometimes lose sight of truly remarkable performances as seen exercised here at the Shell refinery," said Chris Smith, group corporate compliance for MISTRAS. "Every day the MISTRAS employees at Shell Martinez are getting up and dialing in on safety and after 14 years, regardless of the focus, this is an exceptional accomplishment."
