Ecopetrol successfully started-up its HDT complex project
Ecopetrol has successfully started-up two new units for the production of ultra low-sulfur-diesel (Prime-D) and ultra low-sulfur-gasoline (Prime-G+), as part of its hydrotreating project (HDT) at its Barrancabermeja refinery, located in the Santander department of Colombia.
Axens scope of work included license, optimization studies, basic process engineering and consulting services during the EPC phase for a complex of seven process units and their interconnections. The HDT Complex incorporates: a diesel hydrotreater (Prime-D), a gasoline hydrotreater (Prime-G+), a sulfur recovery unit (SRU), a tail gas treatment unit (Clauspol), a new amine regeneration unit (ARU), a new sour water stripping unit (SWS) and a new hydrogen production unit (HPU).
The HDT complex brings the Colombian fuels production compliant to the latest environmental regulations using the best sulfur-free technologies available in the market.
