Comparing Turbines My question refers to comparing API 611 type turbines to the integrally geared overhung turbines manufactured by German legacy manufacturer Kuehnle-Kopp-Kausch. The old brand (KKK) is now merged under Siemens Turbo Machinery. I referred to your books first to get the answer but this time, to my surprise, your book A Practical Guide to Steam Turbine Technology does not cover the topic. Perhaps an additional item for the next edition, if you think it worthwhile: These turbines (KKK) are compact single-wheel, single-row overhung and integrally geared and I'm asking if they can be a suitable alternative to the API-611 between-bearing design.
