IRPC Operations: Stability evaluation of hot spots in the RDS process reactor

Access Hydrocarbon Processing’s IRPC Operations virtual event! In Session 28: Maintenance and Reliability, Sang-Mo Lee, Pressure Vessel Expert for SK Energy, presented a session titled, “Stability evaluation of hot spots in the RDS process reactor,” followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Lee began by providing information obtained from a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model during a 2019 turnaround of an RDS process reactor. He discussed the methods of analysis used, as well as temperature profiles analyses of the catalysts and structures by CFD, an evaluation of the reactor wall and internals’ stability by finite element analysis (FEA), and a corrosion analysis.
